Janice Furlong earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Duke University in 1975, an MSW from Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work in 1979, and a certificate in family therapy from the Cambridge Family Institute in 1982. She has thirty years of clinical experience with adults, families, adolescents, and children, having practiced in a variety of outpatient, hospital, and residential treatment settings. A flexible therapist who offers both short term and longer term treatment, Ms. Furlong's approach is strength-based and collaborative. She has expertise in treating depression, women's issues, substance abuse and dependency, trauma, grief, and a wide range of family/parenting challenges. In addition to her private practice at Colony Care, Ms. Furlong is on the faculty at the Boston University School of Social Work.
