Kathy Herzog received her B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College in 1984. She attended Lesley University and earned her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology in 1987. After working for several years in th field of community mental health, she returned to graduate school and received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School in 1997. She has been a licensed psychologist since 1999.
Dr. Herzog's clinical focus encompasses treating problems related to mood, anxiety, attachment, and trauma. Although originally trained to work with children, she currently sees primarily adolescents and adults in individual and couples psychotherapy. She has training and special interest in clinical hypnosis and is a member of the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis. In addition to these areas of expertise, Dr. Herzog specializes in forensic psychology, and for the past nine years has been employed as a designated forensic psychologist at both Bridgewater State Hospital and the Department of Mental Health with an abiding commitment to working with individuals suffering from major mental illness. In the context of this work, she is appointed as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry for Tufts University School of Medicine. Her clinical approach is optimistic, integrative, and strength-based drawing from cognitive-behavioral techniques, psychodynamic theory, and existential psychotherapy.
