Elaine Karp received her B.S. in Speech from Emerson College in 1965, her M.S. in Audiology and Speech Pathology in 1967 and her Psy.D. from Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology in 1986. Dr. Karp is a licensed psychologist who has specific expertise in working with young children and their families. While she treats a wide variety of adjustment issues during the early childhood years (issues around illness in the family, loss and other family stressors), she offers a unique perspective to the diagnosis and treatment of children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, because of her early work with children with speech/language disorders.
Dr. Karp also treats adults as individuals and in groups – especially women. Her work with this population includes a feminist and strength-based philosophy. Other adult issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, loss and other life stressors are also included in treatment for both men and women
