Thomas A. Myers is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts, under his full name, but prefers to be called Andy. He is a 2006 Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate of Boston University School of Social Work. His clinical training experience has been mostly in adult outpatient psychiatry and dual diagnosis/addictions within a local community hospital system; the hospital is a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate. He has expertise working with clients diagnosed with depression, anxiety, trauma, panic/agoraphobia, and addictive behaviors/addictions. His experience includes providing Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual affirmative therapy and also therapy for clients experiencing difficulties involving sex, sexuality or sexual compulsivity. Additional clinical training and experience has also included adolescent counseling within a large public high school.
In addition to providing individual therapy, Andy has experience and training includes psychoeducational and psychodynamic group therapy, as well as couples and family therapies. He has an eclectic approach to therapy which encompasses his experience in psychodyamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and heavily influenced by relational and attachment theories/approaches.
